Work It! Youth Theatre Development Programme
Wexford Arts Department has developed an exciting and ambitious Youth Theatre Development Programme. NAYD was contracted to explore professional development opportunities for youth drama practitioners in the Southeast of Ireland and to provide a needs analysis of youth theatre/drama training in the region. The findings are outlined in The State of Play Report. Work It! is the training programme that has emerged. NAYD, and other training providers including Mess Up The Mess Theatre Company (Wales), will deliver a programme that includes:
- Introduction to Youth Drama Facilitation
- Reaching Out: devising youth-led issue-based youth arts projects
- Setting Up Your Own Youth Theatre
- Laying The Foundations: Introducing basic drama and group skills
- Child Protection Training
In addition, NAYD will provide on-going mentorship and developmental support to groups in the region who wish to develop a youth theatre. Opportunities to explore cross-border collaborations with youth theatres in South West Wales are currently in development.
