Leading On...Residential 2010

Laying the Foundations

20 participants have been chosen for this year's Leading On... residential Laying The Foundations.

It will explore the exercises, techniques and workshops that make up a 10-week introductory programme for youth theatre. Over 4 days, the participants will explore the experience of a new youth theatre member by participating in 10 introductory workshops. The course will also allow the participants to interrogate the work from the facilitator’s perspective:

  • Establishing aims and objectives for the workshops
  • Introducing techniques and styles including improvisation, movement, rhythm and voice
  • Looking at how to create a safe working environment
  • Helping them lay good solid foundations for members of a youth theatre
  • Encouraging them to share experiences, express opinions and help them develop their creative skills

Past Leading On...Sessions

  • Weekend course in Directing
  • Training in Garda Vetting procedures
  • Residential weekend: "Shifting Gear: Using High Focus Exercises and Approaches in Youth Drama"
  • Training In Playback Theatre
  • Creative Approaches to Voice
  • Building the Arc: Looking at the elements of the youth drama workshop

What the participants have to say:

This training is extremely beneficial and enjoyable. Keep it coming.

The training was very challenging and it made me examine my own practice. I will take much learning away with me.

I very much enjoyed the workshops over the past weekend and found them very well constructed and executed. It was also good to meet up with other drama practitioners and share thoughts and ideas.
