It's Festival Time!

11 youth theatre from around the country are currently in the throes of rehearsal for NAYD's New Stage Festivals. They will each perform one of the three specially commissioned plays at two festivals in Roscommon and Cork.

It wouldn't be an NAYD festival without a workshop or two and this time round we are offering specialist workshops in Stage Combat, Movement, Clowning, Commedia and Devising Dance. Find Out More about New Stage

Nov 27th is the closing date for applications for an Arts Council Bursary Award. It is open to individual artists in all artforms and aims to support professional artists in devleoping their art. The maximum award is Euro 15,000. Visit The Arts Council website for more.

The Sapperlot International Festival takes place in Brixon, Italy from 31st May - 4th June 2009. It is open to youth theatre groups who are willing to perform and the focus is on critical reflection on the work presented. The festival also aims to begin the process of creating a network of European Youth Theatre. Closing date for applications is 30th November. Find Out More

Access All Abbey Card

The Abbey Theatre have extended their Access All Abbey scheme to cover members of youth theatres affiliated to NAYD. The card allows you to see most performances for only 10 Euro.

Shaping Interculturalism In Youth Work

The Performance Corporation are offering NAYD members a special rate of 5 Euro for preview performances of their upcoming production 'The Nose' in Project, Dublin.

They will also organise a post show workshop for any youth theatre that is interested.The play is an adaptation of the short story by Gogol and promises to live up to the company's reputation for innovative and exciting theatre. We are delighted to announce that Jody O'Neill is the new editor of Youth Drama Ireland. Jody is an actress, writer and producer and is currently working with NAYD as Admin Assistant

We are sorry to say adieu to Fiona Ni Chinneide, out-going editor, who injected such passion, insight and dedication into the 6 editions of the magazine she edited. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours

 

As 2008 is the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, the National Youth Council of Ireland is hosting a conference to showcase different projects and promote debate on the challanges facing the youth sector as it embraces interculturalism.

Speakers include the Minister for Childen And Youth Affairs, Barry Andrews TD and there will be a number of roundtable discussions on different aspects of interculturalism. The date is Friday 28th November and the venue is The Crowne Plaza hotel in Santry, Dublin 9. Conference fee is 65 Euro/45 Euro (NYCI members) Find out more
