Centre
Stage + 10 Launch
Our major
report, Centre Stage +10, will be launched on 20th
May in Dublin Castle by Martin Cullen, TD, Minister for Arts, Sport
and Tourism. Rhona Dunnett has carried out extensive research into
all aspects of youth theatre with substantial input from leaders,
members and stakeholders in the sector.
In addition to the launch,
there will be exploration of the findings at the Centre
Stage+10 Seminar. Places are booking up fast!

Training

The next meeting of the Skills Sharing Network takes place on 16
May in Galway. This will be the 7th meeting of the collective of
youth drama facilitators. This meeting will focus on Dramatherapy
and Developing Characters.
New members are welcome.

The Arts Council have recently released two new resources for artists
and arts organisations working with children and young people.
They are Guidelines for taking and
using images of children and young people in the arts sector and
Solo practitioner code of practice for working with children
and young people. Both are available to download from the Arts
Council website.
International

Leargas is holding an information day on the Youth In Action Programme
2007-2013 in Croke Park on 9 May. Anyone planning a European project
in 2009-10 should attend as it will be the only event of its kind

this year's NYT production of The Seagull. The standard
was incredible and after much deliberation, we are delighted to

NYT Welfare Officers Sought |

Tickets
are now on sale for the NYT production of The Seagull by
Anton Chekhov in a version by Martin Crimp. The director is Wayne
Jordan. It will be on stage in the Peacock Theatre, Dublin from
24 - 29 August.
Last
year's production sold out so make sure you book early! A special
rate of 15 Euro is available for youth theatre members for all performances.

There was a great response to this year's call for
applications to the Skills Support Programme.
The successful youth theatres were Bui Bolg (Wexford), Kildare
Youth Theatre and Co. Sligo Youth Theatre.
We will offer the programme again in the near future.

We
are seeking to recruit two Night-Time Welfare Officers for the duration
of the National Youth Theatre 2009.
The
Welfare Officers will be responsible for the overall welfare of
the cast at night during the five weeks of rehearsals and performances.
The cast will be resident at the Marino Institute of Education in
Dublin.
