Critics Programme
The Young Critics programme has been created for all of you youth
theatre members who have BIG opinions on theatre and an even BIGGER
passion for telling others what you think!

Auditions
This year's
National Youth Theatre production will be The Seagull
by Anton Chekhov, adapted by Martin Crimp and directed by Wayne
Jordan. We will be holding auditions in April. On April 4 we will
be in Cork, Apr 5 and 7 in Dublin and April 6 in Sligo. Auditions
are open to youth theatre members aged 16-21. This is your chance
to perform on the National stage and be part of the most exciting
theatre event for young actors this summer.
The production will be stage
in the Peacock Theatre, Dublin from 24th - 29th August. Audition

Funding

A reminder that 20 March is the closing date for
Young Ensembles Scheme. It is open to groups of young people who
work collaboratively to create art. Youth Theatres are cited as
an example of a Young Ensemble who may apply to the scheme.
It provides for grants
from 500-20,000 Euro and awards can be used to develop existing
strands of a group's work or to explore new initiatives. For more

Arts Council website.

Funding is available from the Edgar Otto Thedens Bequest
Fund for international projects that involve travel of
groups of young people from Ireland to meet young people of the
European Union. Youth and the Arts is one possible theme. The

the British Irish Youth Exchange Programme in Dublin on 25th March.
It will be followed by a Contact Making Seminar in Bristol on 17th

Support Programme
We
will send a facilitator to your youth theatre! Four youth theatres
are being offered the chance to avail of Stage Combat and Contact
Improvisation workshops. Closing date is 27th March.

Young Critics Programme |

The
Annual General Meeting of NAYD will take place on Sunday
29th March at 2pm in Cassidys's Hotel, Cavendish Row. (Opposite
the Gate Theatre). All members are encouraged to come along. There
are two places for election to the Board in the Youth Theatre category.
Nomination papers and more details have been sent to members.

As
you can see from this
month's blog entry, we are offering an expanded Young
Critics Programme again this year. We will bring together 16 youth
theatre members from all over the country twice during the year
to see theatre productions, participate in workshops and discussions.The
first weekend takes place from 27 - 29 March in Dublin.
Forms have been sent to all youth theatres. The closing date for
return is 13 March.
