The
Year Ahead
It's gonna
be a busy '09. Highlights include a National Youth Theatre production,
three new plays commissioned under the New Stage project, a Young
Critics programme, the publication of Centre Stage +10 and a Regional
Festival in the Autumn.
New initiatives include
a Young Ambassadors Programme, the Capture YT project (more on this
below) and the development of new resources and supports for youth

Funding

The Arts Council have a number of up-coming closing dates. Of most
relevance to youth theatres is the Young
Ensembles scheme (deadline 20th March).
Other schemes that may be of interest are the
Artist In The Community Scheme (26th Feb) or the Small
Festivals Scheme (27th Feb).
We strongly advise that you
contact the Arts Council before you complete your application
to verify your project fits the criteria for the funding on offer.

Promote YT, the national agency for youth theatre in Scotland, are
hosting a skills development event in Fife on March 7th/8th.
The event consists
of workshops and discussions. Participants can choose a breakout
route specialising in an area of practice. Workshop leaders include
Professor Jonothan Neelands. For more info and booking forms visit

Drama Ireland's new editor Jody O'Neill is working away on the next
edition of the magazine. We are looking for details of productions
and other events for our youth theatre round-up of 2008. Forms have
been sent to all youth theatres. The closing date is 13th Feb.
We
are also looking for high quality photos for inclusion in the magazine,
Please provide full credits to include photographer, name of production
and the names of those photographed if possible. Forms and photographs
can be emailed to Jody.

As you can see, there is lots happening in '09. Make
sure you are part of it! Membership renewal forms have been posted
to all current members.

The
Association of Drama In Education in Ireland (ADEI) is holding a
high profile conference in Trinity College, Dublin to mark its 10th
anniversary. There will be a series of master classes led by two
of the world's foremost teachers in this field, Professor Dorothy
Heathcote and Professor Cecily O'Neill.
The
conference will take place on 21st Feb with the masterclasses on
19th/20th. Delegates must register separately for attendance at
the small group master classes. Applications for both the conference
