Step By Step Together

schemes that have been tried and tested in primary schools

Programme
2010
Despite
funding cuts, NAYD will deliver a full programme of events and supports
for youth theatres in 2010. Highlights include a National Youth Theatre
production and a National Festival of Youth Theatres.
In
June there
will be a European seminar entitled Making Connections. Both Irish and
European youth theatre practitioners will participate. The
Young Critics and the Skills Support Programmes are back.

Funding

The
closing date for the Artist in the Community Scheme is 26 February. It
is funded by the Arts Council and administered by Create. It
exists to enable artists and communities of place and interest to
work together on projects.

GO SEE YT
NAYD is offering the GO SEE YT award once again in 2010. This
fund supports youth theatres who wish to bring a group to see
productions by
other youth theatres or by professional theatre companies in their
area. A maximum amount of 150 Euro is available.

NAYD is looking to appoint a full-time Youth Theatre Officer. The role
involves supporting the sustained development of youth theatres and

Child Protection Awareness Training

The
first event on the Leading On.....training programme for youth theatre leaders takes
place on February 20 with Child Protection Awareness Training. The programme has been designed and will be delivered by the National Youth Council of Ireland.
The training is specifically aimed at youth theatre Designated
Persons. The closing date is Feb 10. More information and booking

There are
still some places left on the New Stage Directors' workshop. The focus will be on bringing the New Stage scripts to stage but will be
useful to anyone who intends to direct a script for youth
theatre. You can download a booking form from the New

NAYD has teamed up with the National Youth Council of Ireland to offer
a one-day training course introducing simple directing techniques for
working with young people. Topics will range from choosing suitable
scripts to devising with a group. The day will also explore simple
staging and production ideas. It will take place in Dubin on 30th March
and is designed for those who work and volunteer within the youth work
sector.
