NYT 2010

 April is NYT audition month.  Auditions take place on 9 April  (Dublin),  10 April (Cork), 17 April (Dublin) and 18 April (Sligo). Audition forms will still be accepted right up to the day of auditions. If you are over 16 and a member of a youth theatre affiliated to NAYD and you haven't submitted a form,  contact us by email and let us know details of the audition you wish to attend.

Details of this year's Young Ensembles Scheme has been announced. The purpose of the award is to support groups of young people between the ages of 12 and 23 to create ambitious and orignal work together in any artform.

Youth theatres were among the successful applicants in the 2009 round of the scheme. The closing date for applications is 30 April.  For full details of the scheme and how to apply for it,  visit the Arts Council website.Rhona, NAYD's Research and Development Officer is available to support youth theatres who wish to apply to the scheme. Leargas are holding a Youth Initiative training event from May 14-16 in Birr. Youth Initiative projects are carried out by young people (aged 15-30)  and allow participants to develop a project within their own community. For more information visit the Leargas website.

Promote YT are offering NAYD members a special rate for participation in their SKILL UP annual networking and training event in Inverness from 16-18 April. The weekend involves a range of workshops suited to various skills and abilities. visit the Promote YT website.

Making Connections.....

 Open to both Irish and European youth theatre leaders, the Making Connections  training course will explore the world of youth theatre exchanges.  Applications are now being accepted.

Leading On.....


NAYD is looking for an Administrative Assistant under the FAS Work Placement Programme. The
placement is for 30 hours a week over nine months. Participants will gain experience of working in a busy national office and gain a greater understanding of youth theatre in Ireland.

The NAYD Annual General Meeting takes place in the NAYD Offices, 7 North Great Georges Street, Dublin 1 on Sunday 18 April at 1pm.

There are three vacancies on the board within the Youth Theatre category and nominations are called for by 15 April. Nomination forms and notice of the AGM have been sent to members.  

Details of this year's residential Leading On..... have been announced. The training is titled Laying The Foundations and will allow leaders to explore the experience of a new youth theatre member by participating in 10 introductory workshops.  Along the way they will interrogate the work from the facilitator's perspective.

The training will take place in Maynooth from 24 - 27June. Application forms will be sent to members later in the month.  Visit the Leading On...page for more information.
